Good and Bad Experience Onboard

In learning you will always gain experience especially when you are doing practical.It is just that you either will get good experience or maybe bad experience, it is part of learning. During my cadetship time I went onboard 5 vessels. There are many experience I gain. I am going to share some of the experience.

Bad Experience

It was around 0900 hours,we were enrouted from Kikeh Oilfield to Labuan Port I was at bridge doing my watch.Suddenly the OOW spotted that we were being chased and it could be pirates,so the OOW inform the Master and the Master came to bridge.He follow the company procedures and use some of his experience and we manage to escape.During that time there were many things in my mind,like are we going to make it or not.It is a experience which I will never forget.

      

Pirates

As a seafarer we all hate survey or inspection.During my first ship we had a survey by Petronas rep.We did all the preparation for the survey.On the survey day I was assisting the chief officer.I was nervous and afraid since it was my first time.The surveyor ask me to follow him and chief officer for round inspection. During the round I was ask many questions, I manage to answer some but for the questions which I couldn't not answer I was getting scold by the surveyor. At that moment I understood why we seafarers hate shore personnel coming onboard.

Good Experience

BBQ is like a token of appreciation.While onboard we had BBQ.We usually have BBQ after a successful survey or operation.Since the survey was over the Master told the cook that we will be having BBQ as we manage to get the hired.It was a great moment because you have played a role in it to.

The beautiful scenery at Sea it is a nice experience not many people get to see the view.I was lucky during the Super Moon I was at an oilfield and I manage to see it.The scenery was way better than land.

During at sea we were always fishing at night if we were on stand by.This is a new experience for me because I usually do fishing at lake and this is my first time fishing at Sea.At sea the type of fishes you will get and also the size of fishes will amaze you.One of my crew member manage to catch a tuna which was huge.I didn't see a tuna as big as that before.
