LIFEBOAT MONTHLY MAINTENANCE ONBOARD

Hey guys, today i am going to talk about onboard lifeboat monthly maintenance. During my training onboard, every month we will carry out this inspection to ensure that our lifeboat is in good and perfect condition.

This is my Eagle Kinabalu full enclosed type lifeboat.

First of all, before we start our lowering inspection. We need to attached falling preventing device (FPD) to prevent lifeboat out from the hook. After we attached this FPD we need to made fast painter to the bollard or railings to prevent the lifeboat from swinging too much. Pull out the safety pin and release the davit arm stop.

Lower the lifeboat by using the releasing handle until the lifeboat reach the water level.

This is the example when lifeboat is waterborne. After that we pull out safety handle pin and release the painter. We will try manoeuvere it by giving ahead , astern, port and starboard. Check the interior light.

Finally, after we have completed the test. Attached the hook back to our lifeboat and made fast painter to our lifeboat. Standby man on deck will start to pick up the lifeboat back to ship and we will crank it until the lifeboat is fully made fast to its position.
