If you want to work for a person who led by example and who, through his own drive toward excellence, pushes you toward your fullest potential and perhaps beyond. He demonstrates incredible vision, dedication, perseverance as he strives to actualize his vision
''leaders are also expected to work harder than those who report to them and always make sure that their needs are taken care of before yours''
-Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla-
Musk is genius, and thus knows that it is worth his while to listen to what his customers, observers, critics, and followers have to say. He has been known to go onto Twitter, of all places, and listen to what his customers have to say. While some CEOs leave twitter to their social media teams and others outright ignore the medium, Musk actually listens, responds, and uses the information to make improvements to Tesla's cars
Musk's incredible journey began in his hometown in South Africa, where he was severely bullied as a child, even ending up in a hospital when a group of boys threw him out. From then, he moved to attend universities in Canada and Unites States.
In all his ventures, Musk sets the bar for the rest of the industry, whether on earth or in space. With Tesla, he built affordable electric cars and moved on to triple the number of supercharger stations. To encourafe auto manufacturers to expand the electric car industry.
Here are Musk's top three tips for new leaders:
- Hire great people who are smarter than you
- This is the solution as hiring wrong can cost you much
- Challenge peoples leader to hire better people therefore making the company better
2. Do not go with the flow
- ''as we show that this is possible and that this dream is real - it is not just a dream, it is something that can be made real''
3. Focus on your foundation
- ''Make sure you understand the fundamental principles of what you're trying to do before you get into details''
Like Steve Jobs, Musk is a visionary and genius but perhaps his most outstanding qualities are his belief in his own vision, his drive and his persistence, refusing to accept obstacles in his path
